Have you noticed something really common for all of us – we all get motivated when we see numbers? For instance, if you want to lose weight, you use the scale so you can check how things are going, if you have any progress or not. Well, as constructors of height adjustable desks know this fact, they have invented the so-called desk control software. What is it and what is the main purpose of this program? The name says enough about it – this is a special software which helps you utilize the full potential of your height adjustable desk and motivates you to spend more time in a standing position.

How does a desk control software work?

First of all, it allows you to set your personal goals for burning calories and remembers a few different positions (of course the ones you prefer). It counts every single minute you spend standing up. If sit for too long, the software reminds you to change your position into a standing one and tracks the times you have adjusted the desk up and down during the day. At the end all your data is exported into an Excel file and you get a report. How smart, isn`t it?

It`s very important to remember that you shouldn`t spend the entire work day standing up. It`s not as healthy as you think. This is the reason for designing these desks in such way that you can change the position. Standing up for too long may cause you problems with your legs and your veins as well. Change your position in an hour or so. In this way your body won`t get used to a current position and won`t get stressed.

Exercising while being at work

Maybe you think that the only way to be in a good shape is to exercise before or after work. We have some good news for you – using a height adjustable desk offers the opportunity to exercise while doing your daily work tasks. Here are some ideas how you can do it.

  • Extend yourself – Leg extensions are a great start of you exercises while you are still in a seated position. What you need to do is sitting upright, place your feet on the floor with your knees at a right angle. Then extend one leg at a time, until the leg is straight and the quads are contracted. Hold for a few seconds and then slowly lower. You can make 3 sets and repeat on each side 12-15 times.
  • Core Values - While you’re still sitting you can do some work on your abdominals. An office chair with wheels is perfect, as it allows you to target the oblique abs with its swivel action. Hold lightly onto the edge of the desk with feet off the floor and swivel from side to side, controlling the movement with your abs. Swivel up to 15 times is more than enough for a strong core.
  • Stay On Your Toes - Сonvert your sit-stand desk from the sitting position to the standing оne. Then start by encouraging the circulation from the lower extremities with calf raises. With your feet hip width apart, slowly lift your heels up off the floor. Balance on your toes for 3 seconds while contracting the calf muscle, then slowly lower. Perform 12-15 times (3 sets again).
  • Squats - Gluts are one of the largest and strongest muscle group in thuman`s body. Perform a desk squat by keeping feet about shoulder width apart and slowly bending your knees while pushing the buttocks backwards.Your main purpose is to keep the knees behind the toes, so take a quick glance down to check on this. The same repetition 12-15/ 3 sets.
  • Put Your Hands in the Air - Put your hands up with a shoulder press.Starting with hands at shoulder height, lift them above your head. Use a water bottle to add a bit of resistance.
  • Hot Off the Press - Keep those biceps balanced with a tricep press for the back of the arms.While still holding your water bottle from the previous exercise, lean forward slightly, then raise your hand so your elbow is bent with the hand resting at about your waist level.Slowly extend the hand backwards, straightening the arm, then slowly return to the starting position.

You see how many different exercises you can perform while being at work! All you need is a height adjustable desk and some will to do them! Enjoy having a sit-stand desk!
